haha, Honey. I looked up that movie and watched some clips of it. (right after you mentioned it the first time)
I saw that clip when he says that to the woman, and I had a strange feeling that this was the scene you ment. I was almost certain it must have been that..and then it was!! haha freaky. Very bizarre, cause it's very different..but the mood is kinda the same, i guess. Or something.
LAST CAPTER!! sorry the clichè. We all hate it, but ya know.. clichès exist for a reason. lmao. so I'm glad you read this story. I've never actually ended a story before. Also, I'm writing a new story.. veryyy different, though. haha. Kinda sci fi I would say.
anywayyyyy. here it is. last chapter!
CHAPTER 12: When you read this, I'll be far far gone.
Lennard was slowly pulled away from a dream, and just as he opened his eyes and realized where he was, his dream was chased away and gone from his mind. He sighed and turned around, seeing nothing but an abandoned space. Sitting up, he looked at the open bathroom door. "Amanda?" he asked, hating to talk out loud when no one was around.
There was no answer.
Furrowing his brows, he got up from the bed and trotted to the bathroom, looking around. No girl in here. Standing rather confused in the doorway, he turned, looking for any notes or something she might have left.
No way. He thought. No way that she had just left. Could she have just gone out the door and walked away? Lennard walked over to the window. The central area of the town wasn't that big, but if she was out there, she could be anywhere.
Sudddenly an overwhelming rush of panick came over him. She could be anywhere. She could have already hopped on a train or ferry and left. Lennard spun on his heal and threw on some clothes from his bag.
Jogging to the reception, he gave the keys back and headed for his car. Maybe he should have asked that receptionist if he had seen Amanda? Lennard thought as he stood by his car. Then again, maybe he shouldn't chase after her. What if she was going home, and wanted to be alone?
Not likely.
Either way, he wanted to go after her. He could not bear to go back alone. Infact, he could not bear to be without her even just now.
Getting in his car, he quickly drove towards the town. His eyes were darting from one place to another, trying to spot her. It made him stressed to the point where he had to turn off the radio.
He stopped his car down by a park, rushing out of to look around.
The park was close to the docks and there was a trainstation down the road aswell. If he was lucky, he'd find her here.
Where was that stupid girl? He felt his voice hiss over and over in his mind.
On the other side of a small park, sat Amanda. She was waiting for the ferry to arrive. She felt sick an dizzy for doing this, but something, someone, had gotten her so far. She was not going back now. It had to mean something that he had decided to take her to the town instead of back home. There must have been something divine that had tapped him on his masculine shoulder and made him change his mind.
Amanda squinted her eyes at the sharp light, carefully looking over her shoulder once in a while, to make sure she was alone. Or to see if he came to join her.
She wasn't sure what she wanted. All that was clear to her now was that she did not want to go back. There was no reason to hang around. Those selfish parents of hers had spawned a selfish child. A girl that ran away, only for her own sake. For her own safety, or sanity if you will. Maybe one day, after being away for years, gone without a trace, - she would return. She would come to their door, maybe even say she was sorry for taking off.
Or not.
Maybe just show up and ask if they were done. It amused her. Seeing herself in ten years, asking if they were done. As if anyone fought for that long.
A few thinking seconds. That was exactly what they were doing right now. A battle that had started years ago.
Glancing down at the t-shirt, she wondered if Lennard would come and save her. Sweep her off the ground and take her to another place.
Idiot.
You've made yourself dependent on this person.
A pulse hammered in her chest. She needed to go. He was poison to her. This trip was about her starting over, alone and far away. Instead, she had been clinging to this man, like the needy, greedy and useless trash she was.
Atleast she had his t-shirt. To remind her of his height. His scent. Those strong arms that had pulled her closer to him last night.
Upon hearing her name, she whipped around. In the distant she saw Lennard and he had seen her aswell. Quickly, Amanda got up from her seat, backing away in the opposite direction. He was still far away, but this was an open park and she wondered which way to go. When was that ferry coming anyway? No clocks around, and she had none either. What a fool she was to not bring anything but money. Fool! She hissed mentally.
"Amanda, wait" she heard him say. "Don't bother" she called out and backed away from him as he was closing in on her.
"What?" he asked confusedly as he started jogging.
The girl started running.
"Wait!" he shouted and came after her. "Amanda!" his voice made her knees rubbery and she felt a rush of panicked breaths escape, making it hard to focus on running. Had she only known where she was going.
"Amanda!" he shouted with an annoyed grunt. He was right behind her now, and he knew he sooner or later would catch up with her. It happened sooner than he thought.
The girl darted round a corner, only to find it was a dead end.
Just as Lennard rounded the corner, he saw her turn around, staring at him, wild-eyed.
"What on earth were you running for?" he said between breaths.
"I've become dependent on you." she growled with a desperate ring to her voice.
"I'm sorry, what?" His voice was befuddled as he took a few steps closer.
"Dependent! I've grown too used to you. That wasn't the plan!" she said loudly, as if she had to spell it out.
"And I'm not going back with you. I wont. I've made up my mind, and nothing you say will change that. I've come this far, that has to mean something." she inhaled, "Just go back. Go back, tell them you never found me, and forget about me" She had a hard time uttering those last words. She couldn't fool herself, so she could probably not fool anyone else. She didn't want him to forget about her.
"Just pretend you never met me, and.."
"Amanda, listen to me." he interrupted her.
"I wont force you back. Infact, if you wanted to go back, I would maybe try to talk you out of it. There's nothing there for you. It would be to send you to prison." he said, now right infront of her.
Amanda sighed and shrugged, "prison" she mumbled with a shortlived chuckle. "yeah. but.." she looked up at him, wanting him to say that he would never leave her. That he wanted her.
Instead, Lennard just stood there, watching the girl take deep, angry, stressed breaths.
It was now or never.
She had to face it. She had become too attached to him.
"Please." she begged, "don't leave me. Don't go back. I wont make it on my own." her voice was monotone and hoarse.
Lennard was, just like he always had been, confused by her. "No, I was wrong. I think you will make it."
She murred angrily, "You don't get it!" she snapped. "I wont make it after meeting you. I don't want go anywhere without you." she inhaled, "you made me this way. Had I not met you, I would have made it. I would have gotten a ride from another person, someone indifferent to me. You made me weak and now I need you."
Lennard still looked a bit confused, but also sad because she was upset. "I'm sorry? I didn't mean to make you feel weak. I didn't know you. I never ment to play with your head." before he got to continue, she shook her head to make him stop.
"I know that. And sorry doesn't cut it. It's too late. I don't know anything anymore. Maybe I'll get over it. " she paused. "No, no I won't!" she sighed.
"Please don't leave me now. I'm sorry if I ever hurt you or annoyed you. I don't mean anything with it. It's just how I am." she pleaded.
Lennard couldn't help but smile a bit. "Amanda. I came after you. I could not bear the thought of you going back home, or somewhere else all alone." he said softly.
Amanda wiped her cheeks with her upper hand, "Is this another trick?" she asked, wiping her cheeks one last time.
"Amanda, don't be silly" he started, but was cut off by her wild arms, pushing and pounding at him, "I knew it! You're always just shushing me when something's up!" she exclaimed, trying to push past him.
Her wild, passionate streak must have rubbed off on him, as he, in a rush of adrenalin, grabbed her wrists and pushed her to the wall, holding her infront of him.
"I mean it. I can't imagine not having you with me. Despite all the stress, this has been the best time I've had in a long, long time. When I look back at the latest months, years, everything is mute and grey compared to after I met you." he paused, seeing how she followed every word he had to say.
"When I woke up today and you were gone, I have never felt more hollow. I was afraid I'd never see you again. I could not bear going back home, telling your uncle that I never found you, when the truth was that I had you, but decided to be selfish and keep you all to myself, only to lose you."
Amanda looked at him, making sure he was finished talking. Never had anyone said anything kinder than this, and so she was not sure how to cope. She had nothing to say about it. For now, atleast.
"I'm going on that ferry" she whispered sternly.
"But I hope I won't have to go alone. You've put a spell on me, and I don't know what to do with it." she bit her lip, "I don't know what else to say anymore." she had forgotten that she was pinned to the wall.
"It would mean the world to me if you came along with me. Got you car and went on that ferry with me. " there was a fire in her eyes as she stared at his face. "There's nothing left for us here anyway." she added.
Lennard nodded slowly. "There
is nothing left for us here." he repeated and slowly let go of her arms.
"We'll go far away together. And if we want to, we'll go back one day. " Her voice was again monotone. As if she had to keep it indifferent so it could not be analyzed.
He turned around, feeling her creep up close to him, forcing herself under his arm and next to his hip.
"We'll do what we do best. Leaving our troubles to tower behind us." he said, pressing her closer to him.
she was to me a refugee, running away with me
