[shadow=black,left,300]NECRONOMICON: The Lost Pages[/shadow] [glow=green,2,300]Chapter One: Discovery[/glow] Phillip and I sat on empty crates, dressed in many layers of clothing under our heavy thick coats, trying to keep warm next to our fire that was slowly dying. Here we were, in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere, shivering from the icy cold that was creeping up on us, in the Antarctic. I sat there with my arms crossed staring at my best friend Phillip, hoping he wouldn't fall asleep, and I was studing his slightly exposed face. The once dashing and handsome man my friend was, had now become old-looking and weather-worn, his face appeared grim. Phillip seemed to be frozen, by the way he just sat there so motionless, if it wasn't for his exhales of breathe that I could see pluming out of his mouth, I'd swear he was dead. It had been two days since we ate food, the supply plane that would drop off our monthly necessities, was a week late. It's understandable, Phillip and I were so far from civilization, that our bush pilot we hired would take quite a bit of time to reach us, so we had to be patient. We both knew it was well worth being out here in this snowy flat land, neither Phillip nor I wanted to turn back. We knew this trip would pay-off big, and we'd live like kings in our own private castles, and we'd laugh and party every day without care. My cracked lips hurt when I smiled at the thought of my friend and I wearing crowns, but that was the first image I had when we decided to go on this adventure of fortune and glory. I remembered that first day, it was still clear in my head, like it happened only yesterday.
Three years ago, I was in the massive library of the Miskatonic University in Arkham, Massachusetts, reading by candle light, the most evil book ever written and copied by hand, the NERONOMICON. I had to read this cursed book by candle light, because light bulbs would burst within minutes of being replaced, I guess the dark astral monsters didn't care for them. Every time I began reading from that stale-smelling book, I felt like something was right behind me, waiting to grab me. Maybe it was the ghost of my dead music teacher, he would stand behind me to make sure I was playing my violin and not just mimicing like I was playing. And when he caught me pretending to play, he'd hoist me up by my collar and put me in the supply room to think things over. Little did he know that when he would place me inside that supply room, I would look in his leather book-bag for money. But one day, I found his copy of the NECRONOMICON, and it changed my life forever. Now, as I sit here in this private room with a bolted door, I read the text that Abdul Alhazred had written over a thousand years ago.For months I studied the book slowly, I had to, because I had learned that if I read too much at one sitting, I'd go mad. But it was almost worth the price of sanity learning the ancient secrets of sorcerey. I wanted the power of magic to weild like a sword against men and use the knowledge to obtain what I desired. The desire of wealth, still seemed far off though. But one glorious day as I placed the NECRONOMICON back in it's place on a high shelf, I noticed something blocked it's way from fitting in between two other old resource books. I reached my hand in open space between the books to discover............more pages from the evil book that had fallen out!
To my amazement, several of the pages were maps, it appeared to me, that someone long ago ahd removed these pages purposely. I quickly translated the text, and found out these pages referred to a "city of gold" located in the arctic circle! I knew these pages belonged to the NECRONOMICON, I found the different places in the book where they were torn from. I had to show my best friend Phillip this fantastic discovery! It had been but a few nights ago we discussed the lost "city of gold" that was created to honor the great CTHULU. The golden city was said to contain the wealth from other worlds, with vast treasures of priceless relics that were collected throughout the galaxies of space. I didn't feel the need to shelve the NECRONOMICON, I had to take this book to my friend Phillip's home, so we could carefully go though the pages and find any other references of information that pretained to the "Golden City of CTHULU". But there was a problem that I didn't think of right away in my hast: "Resource books must never leave the library!" That's what old Mr. Lovecraft the librarian said out loud to me as he stood in my way, he looked at the book I had, and I saw his eyes grow wide then make a "v" shape displaying his angry. Before he spoke another word from his mouth that began to get a snarled dog appearence , I apologized quickly to him. I told him I'd return the book to it's proper place right now, he looked like he didn't believe me. So he snatched the NECRONOMICON out of my hand, and made his way toward the private study rooms that were upstairs.
I needed that book, the valuable pages I found were in there right order, the book was finally complete again, after so many decades. I followed quietly behind old Mr. Lovecraft, until we were both in the large main study room, he lit a candle, he knew light bulbs were no good in this room where the darkest occult books were kept. He noticed me standing ten feet from him as the candle flickered brightly, casting my shadow behind me like a dancing demon. His angry look melted into a face of fiendish understanding, he said to me: "You want to steal the NECRONOMICON, don't you? You've gotten possessed by the book, I can tell, your sweating and your hands are shaking. Did you discover something new? Or did you just want the book for yourself?" I didn't answer him, I picked up a candle holder that resembled a clawed hand with it's palm up, where there was a hole in the center where a candle would go. He spoke for the last time of his life: "So, you're going to kill me, over a book? Sorry, but I always carry a gun." As he reached for it, I attacked him violently, he struggled with me and his gun went off, the bullet blasted through the side of his head. I let him fall to the floor, the gun was still in his hand, he looked like he killed himself. That was good I thought, he wouldn't be the first person to do that in this room, people do go mad in here.
I was overjoyed when I picked up the book off the floor, no one would know I took it, or that I murdered Mr. Lovecraft. I needed to get to my friend Phillip, we have to make plans to go on an arctic expedition, to the "LOST CITY of CTHULU."

[glow=green,2,300]Chapter Two: 1977 ARKTOS EXPEDITION[/glow] It was raining and thundering outside as I drove up to my friend Phillips home, it was a beautiful big house that his father had willed to him. He lived alone in that house, like me, he was a bacholer, but unlike me he was wealthy. He wasn't a waster of money, he just lived humbley and quiet, and he was kind to me and offered large amounts of money to further my research into the dark arts of magick. We were close friends, I loved him like a brother, and I always shared my latest discoveries with him, no matter how trivial they seemed to others. The awful weather stopped me from daydreamimg about the goods times we've had at Miskatonic University studing together.
I pounded on the thick door, but was surprised when Phillip flung it open quickly, it was as if he was waiting behind it. He looked at me and smiled with that wonderful look he always gave to me, he waved me in and poured me a hot tea. His happy face turned to shock when I explained what I did, he sat down and felt sorrow for Mr. Lovecraft, I could see the death really affected my friend. After a moment, I then told him the good news about the missing pages of the NECRONOMICON, and that I had obtained the map to the "Golden City of CTHULU". Phillip froze, and then ask me if I had the map with me, I was delighted to show him the complete......NECRONOMICON!Now, he too had the same fiendish look of glee, as he looked at the maps, he noticed the same secrets I discovered right away, the region of the Antarctic at another time, wasn't covered in snow and ice. It was called "ARKTOS" and the terrain was plain to see, all the way to the once lost city. He yelled with happiness, I stood up and joined him, we were howling like wolves and laughing like madmen. He wanted to get dead-drunk, but I told him that we'll celebrate when we return with the "treasurse of the universe". It was time to get serious, we had to make arrangements, purchase the gear we need and get chartered to fly off to the adventure of fortune and glory!
Yes........all that happened three years ago today, Mr. Lovecraft's death marked the anniversary of our quest for CTHULU's gold. Six other members of our expedition had died or were killed along the treacherous way. Mr. Poe and Mr. King died in their sleep from the frigid temperatures, Mr. Ahriman fell though a deep hole that was deceptively covered with snow. I killed Mr. Stephen, I caught him looking at the NECRONOMICON, I found many notes in his pockets, spells mostly. Mr. Kite was killed, because he read one of those demon spells and some kind of creature appeared and bit him in half. I used a counter spell to rid us the horrid foul-smelling thing, it seemed to just dematerialize away, like dust in the wind. Mr. Starbyst however, was discovered five mornings ago, pieces of his body were everywhere. At first Phillip and I thought an animal had shredded his body. But we knew different when we saw that some tracks of hugh heavy feet had walked to his tent, killed him in a ghastly way and wrote symbols on Phillips tent, with Mr. Starbyst's blood.Phillip and I weren't worried about anything happening to us, because we each had a protective spell parchment, that was written with our own blood, the others didn't. The Great Seal that is in the forward page of each copy of the NECRONOMICON, guarded the reader from harm. It can also be written down and carried by an individual, who might be in danger of walking where the OLD ONES had left their mark on the world.
My thoughts of days past were just day-dreams now, here Phillip and I sat, freezing in the cold and hungry, waiting for our supply-drop by a bush pilot in a plane. I suddenly noticed Plillips eyes were closed, so I nudged him with a kick to his boot, he startled, and told me he was dreaming of CTHULU. I let him talk so that would keep him awake, then he stopped relaying the hideously descriptive dream and stood up. I knew it had to be the airplane, I turned around and smiled, it was coming, we would hear it soon. The motors sounded wonderful and reassuring, we were going to be able to make it, we both hopped up on the crates and waved our arms.
After eating and unpacking what we needed to continue our quest for gold, we both decided to wait till we were strong enough to go on, so Phillip and I rested for three days. Within those few days, I, was now dreaming about the nightmarish CTHULU.

[glow=black,2,300]Chapter Three: The Golden City of Cthulu[/glow] We've just crossed through a secret path that was hidden on the mountain side, Phillip and I were fortunate the weather was pleasent. I believed it was our protective spell parchments that we carried each, that helped us to be safe from foul weather, and guarded us from any crawling or flying hell-monster that wished us harm. I was happy to know, that according to the maps, we should reach the lost city within a weeks time. Phillip's whistling pleasent bouncey melodies confirmed to me, that he was also aware of how close we are to our destination.
After rounding a tight bend on a mountain trail, we beheld a marvelous view from up high, we could almost make out the valley that was just beyond a few small mountains ahead of us. I paused a minute and stared in great wonder, my friend Phillip patted the top of my right shoulder as he passd me and said: "Come on my friend, we're almost there". I plodded behind him in the half of a foot snow that covered the ground, the cold didn't even bother me, cause I knew we'd make it.A few hours had gone by as I walked looking at the snowy ground, watching my boots shuffle and tread on an ancient path that no one has seen in perhaps a thousand years. I day-dreamed that the city was bright and shiney, like a paradise, and nubial handmaidians would feed and care for us, they would be the human slaves of the mighty astral beast CTHULU. Just as I was about to envision more about the golden city, when I bumped into Phillip, he'd stopped walking, I was about to ask why he wasn't moving, when I noticed what he was staring at.
A half mile down the mountain path, we beheld a hugh, lumbering, dark brown, hairy creature, it was carrying something black and round in one hand, and a large wooden walking stick in the other. Suddenly, it halted, then lifted it's very long arm that held the walking stick, and then came down hard onto the ground, now the stick was stuck in the ground like a post. It then mounted the top of the post with that black and round object, that it had also carried. Then the beast continued walking. We waited until we were sure it was out of sight, Phillip and I then jogged down to where the creature posted it's item. To our horror, it was Mr. Starbyst's frozen and bloodied head, the cold dead flesh appeared black, his face had the look of terrible anguish. Phillip felt bad for him, he knew him from school, he sometimes shared his lunch with him in the park as they talked about what great novels they were both planning to write in the future.Realization of consequence struck Phillip, he spoke loudly: "We've got to save him, his soul might be lost forever in limbo. Help me take his head down, we may still have time to adorn his skull with a protective spell". If it were up to me, I'd let that head rot on the post, but, I would do anything for my best friend Phillip. We removed all of the flesh, cleaned the skull, and then quickly etched the nessessary text from the NECRONOMICON, in order to save Mr. Starbyst's soul. The spell must have worked, the ecthings turned red upon completion, his soul would be safe. Phillip wanted to carry it back home on our return trip, so it could be buried properly, he put it in his pack for now.
We continued on after a bite to eat, I began to wonder about the beast we both saw earlier, was it the same one that killed and rendered the body of Mr. Starbyst. Well, what does it matter, even the creatures tracks went off into another direction, so I didn't have to worry about that either. We trekked onward for miles until we reached the small mountain range we originally saw from afar, and after that, we came to a vast clearing. I checked the maps to be sure we were going in the right direction, I had a little trouble focusing on the tiny printed text. Because I've been having trouble sleeping the past few nights, I kept having hideous nightmares, about monsters, and my head on a post be eaten by crows. I was puzzled, the maps clearly state that the city should be almost in fromt of us. I thought perhaps it could be buried under tons of snow, and if it is, we're going to have a hell of a time digging to get to it. Phillip walked onto the edge of the clearing, trying to fathom if we did something wrong in our understanding of the maps.
Just then, as I was scanning this clearing, I noticed Phillip was missing, my head swiveled back and forth, I shouted his name: "PHILLIP....PHILLIP........PHILLIP!". I listened, and heard his muffled voice, I ran to his calling, he had fallen into a hole in the snow. I was glad he was alright, I lowered my rope to him, when suddenly, the weight of my body caused me to fall though too. Upon crash-landing upon my friend, we both fell even further downward, until finally hitting the soft snowy bottom. There was a yellow glow everywhere it seemed, as we helped each other up, we then turned toward the brightest glow. And beheld an incredible discovery, it was...."THE GOLDEN CITY", we found it!

[glow=black,2,300]Chapter Four: The Treasure of Cthulu[/glow] The great golden city of CTHULU was as beautiful as I had seen in my dreams, Phillip and I stood in front of the towering, wonderfully text-carved doors. I shook with excitement, we made it, without much help, other then walking the great distance, it was no problem getting here. We'd definately need the magick powers of the NECRONOMICON, to transport all of the treasure, but, before we did anything else, we had to get in. There was nothing on the door to push, turn or pull, Phillip suggested the door might need a spell to open it, that made sense. Phillip held the dreaded book and spoke loudly: "ABRE ULK ENTRUX", and the doors very slowly opened, thunderingly creaking and metalic crunching sounds deafened our ears. Looking in we saw that everything was shiney bright and golden, it was amazing!
We walked in with our arms stretched out, having the desire to touch the golden statures of the misshapen and fiendish looking creatures. To me these statues were hunks of gold, ready to be cut and melted into bars, and then stacked in a safe place like Fort Knox. I was actually hugging a golden statue with glee, while my friend was running his bare hands on the smoove golden floor. Gold, gold, everything in this city was gold, I let go of the statue, and walked on, my eyes were dazzled by all of the wonderful and great beauty of the GOLD!I looked at my friend, and I wanted to ask him a question, when the silence was broken by a loud blowing horn, we froze, and when the horn was finished, we then heard a monsterous roar that bellowed freakishly. Phillip scrambled to his feet and we stood together to face what ever was making the noises. Then out of every doorway and openning, a horde of unspeakable, unnameable and shapeless forms surrounded us. An average person would turn away in disgust from the ugly and disturbing looking things we saw, but we stood our ground. I knew not to show fear, because most of these things would charge and destroy us. But, we were both safe from harm because of our parchments that had the great seal of protection, that was illustrated with our own blood on each one. I queitly told Phillip to reach in his zippered pocket and show these horrendous things that we carry our protection parchments. We each held up high our blood written spells, and the monsters bowed and became calm.
A nine-foot tall abomination that looked like black sea anemone, slithered it's cylindrical bulk toward us, it had red blinking eyes around it's body like a hellish belt. Each eye darted around looking in all directions, and the top of it's tentacled head bowed forward to reveal a grapping, dripping mouth. It spoke to us, in english!
"Welcome masters...are you hungry..thirsty...or...do want to see the treasures of CTHULU?"
I asked: "All this gold every where, isn't the treasure?"
It replied: "No master....gold is gold....but the treasures.....are treasures! You want to see?....there's alot...tons and tons".
My friend Phillip answered: "Yes, your masters command you to show us the treasures!"
It spoke: "Follow me.....masters."
The multi-eyed black thing watched us as it slithered passed the other shapeless monstrousitys that are now getting out of our way. After hours of walking, we finally stood at an arch-way opening, I peered my head in and saw a winding downward staircase that seemed to disappeared into blackness. Phillip bravely went first, our flashlights split the dark and we carefully walked down the golden steps. The downward staircase seemed neverending, but we continued, the ugly thing spoke: "Behold masters.....the treasures". It was too dark to see, the thing spoke again: "Use the magick masters...you can't see in the dark...like me." The creature was right, I read a spell from the NECRONOMICON: "LUSE ULK FERROS!" Great swirling fires appeared on the hundred foot high ceiling, and Phillip and I saw the astonishing riches from the fire's light. Giant beautiful gems of different color filled the floor as far as we could see, some of the gems were bigger than a house. We stood on the last part of the staircase with our eyes and mouths wide open. Phillip bolted down the stairs, yelling with happiness "HOWARD, IT'S ALL OURS!" But he slipped on the smooth steps and fell, I watched him tumble down the golden steps, until he landed, crumpled at the bottom step. He groaned in pain, I had to help him, but, a spider-like monster reached out of the piles of gems and grabbed him. To my horror, I realized that Phillip had dropped his protection parchment, and now he was at the mercy of the monster. I screamed: "NOOOOO!" as the monster crunched into his meat and bones, the grotesque spider spit out Phillips head. The nine foot anemone-like creature quickly slithered pass me, and upon reaching the feasting spider, it began to lap up the blood with it's tentacled head.
I stood there in shock, my blood ran cold as I witnessed my best friend Phillip disappear into the mouth of a monster spider. My anger rose inside of me like a volcano, I flipped through the damned pages of the NECRONOMICON, and within the pages, I found what I was looking for.

[glow=black,2,300]Chapter Five: ARKTOS CTHULU[/glow] I read the text, and I was ready to cast a destructive spell, I pointed my finger at the ghoulish duo and shouted: "MORTOS DOS DEAMONOS". Within an instant, both creatures were blasted by a pillar of fire that stretched down from the swirling ceiling fires and roasted them. I stepped down golden staircase to my friend's remains and collected his bloodied head. I held it tightly to my chest and cried for my dead friend Phillip, I repeatedly his name while sobbing. My tear-filled eyes noticed another of those giant spidery things climbing over a pile of jewels, it's mouth yawned open and it headed toward me. My hand reached for my protective parchment, but it wasn't in my pocket, it was gone! I raced up the stairs holding my friend's head, and I scanned the steps looking for it. Meanwhile the long-legged beast had started coming up the staircase, I had to do something, I remembered the NECRONOMICON's forward page. That evil book had an exact copy of the protective spell, so I turned toward the creature and showed it the doubled-star great seal of protection. The monster screamed and jumped off the staircase into the mountain of jewels, then hid itself.
I wanted to leave this awful place, I just wanted to go home, I had enough of this horror filled city. I didn't care about it's fantastic wealth, however, I needed to fund a return trip back here, so I grabbed a large jewel and put it into my pack. This one jewel could easily pay for the trip back to this city, and it would also pay for a group of men with thompson machine guns and explosives to join me. I would return and kill every living hell-spawned freak here, and then claim the treasures of the universe. But first, I wanted to bring my friend's head home to rest in a grave. I also had to adorn his skull with a spell-etching to save his soul from CTHULU. I had to ration my use of the NECRONOMICON, the spell-casting was aging me quickly, there was always a price to pay when using the dark arts of sorcereryAs I neared the top of the staircase, I was greeted by a big, bloated, black frog-thing, he spoke in a deep voice: "Don't...leave master!"
I asked: "Why not?"
It said: "You...can't take any of the treasure...it's...not yours!"
I held up the book, displaying the forward page and said: "Who's going to stop me?"
It backed up while shielding it's eyes and said: "CTHULU".
I said to it strongly: "CTHULU isn't here! Now get the hell out of way or I'll send your soul to him!"
The ugly toad monster waddled away quickly, I had to hurry too, night was going to fall. I stuffed my friend Phillip's head into my pack after pitching everything out of it, and made sure the jewel was still there. I secured my now blood dripping pack onto my back and strode forth with the NECRONOMICON opened to the forward page displaying the great seal. An angry mob of unspeakable, unnameable and shapeless creatures were yelling insults in ancient forgotten languages at me. So long as I held open the NECRONOMICON, not one of these monster would aproach, they merely gave me room when I walked toward the way out. Few of the brave ones, got within twenty feet of me and pointed their clawed fingers and continued to yell terrible things about me.
It seemed like it took forever to reach the tremendous gates of the city, I finally made my way out, thank goodness. As I walked away, one of the sickening beasts shouted to me: "MASTER!"
I paused, I wanted to know what it was going to tell me, and said: "What do you want FREAK!"
It spoke: "CTHULU KNOWS WHO YOU ARE....YOU WILL BE BROUGHT BACK HERE....YOU WILL SUFFER!"
I smiled and yelled back: "CTHULU IS ANGRY AT YOU, CAUSE I TOOK A PIECE OF TREASURE, THAT YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO GUARD! SO GO TO HELL!"
I walked away, I heard the giant gate close from a distance, I hurried to make my way to the tunnel of snow which lead to a way out from underground. Fortunately the moon lit the way once I climbed out of the snow hole, I could see that all of the provisions and supplies were still on the sleds we pulled. My body ached from being exhausted and cold, I had to build a fire immediately or I'd die.The fire burned big and bright, my bones felt warm, I had finished carving the protective text onto my friend Phillips skull, the etchings turned red. My good friend's soul was saved, I knew once I had finished carving on his skull the decorative large words from the NECRONOMICON, and then when they turn red, the spell had worked. I would do anything for my friend Phillip, including saving his soul from the astral beast named CTHULU. I was so tired, I crawled into my tent, climbed inside my sleeping bag and fell right to sleep. I dreamed of Mr. Lovecraft, the evil NECRONOMICON and the great CTHULU. At the tale end of my dreaming, everything went black and I felt at peace, like I was floating in space and drifting through time.
When I awoke I discovered I couldn't move, something was holding my wrists and ankles, my eyes fluttered open, and to my shock, I was in the midst of the monsters. I was back in the "Golden City of CTHULU", but how I thought, how did I get here? Just then, the creature I had yelled to at the gate when I was leaving, was now standing in front of me, as I layed upon a stone alter. He spoke in a tongue I could not identify, it was like a chant, he kept saying something over and over to me. Suddenly he ripped off my leg and threw it into the crowd of the unspeakable things, and they ate of it. My mouth was open, but I couldn't scream, tears ran down my face, and he tore off my other leg, then my two arms and tossed them into the nightmarish hungry group of fiends. I passed out from shock.I came to, and hoped I was waking from a nightmare, as my eyes opened, I realized I hadn't been dreaming. I was looking down at a small crew of freakish monsters standing in the snow, and the hairy beast Phillip and I had seen earlier spoke to me.
It said in a raspy voice: "Your body and soul are ours, but your cursed head stays here. You have been given immortality, so you will exsist as only a head until the end of time."
My jaw moved but I said nothing, I looked futher down and saw the post that Mr. Starbyst's head was on, I was now the head on that post. I couldn't scream, I could only move my eyes and jaw.
The beast spoke for the last time to me: "You will stay here, and you will continue to exsist even after the crows eat you to the bone." The creatures walked away.
I was alone and I couldn't even cry for myself.
