GODZILLA [shadow=black,left,300]GODZILLA vs the SMOG MONSTER[/shadow] GODZILLA vs HEDORAH, is another title this film is known by, which was released into theaters in the year 1972. At the time this picture was made, the world was becoming environmentally conscience. At TOHO STUDIOS, where alot of Japanese giant monster movies were created, a writer had come up with an idea, about a creature who was created out of pollution. The idea became a movie, and was a big box office hit.
"What is the SMOG MONSTER (or Hedorah) exactly?", you ask. [/center] Imagin rotton gabage and toxic dumping mixed with sewage and chemicals, ok now imagin a blobbish, acidic and smoke exhaling creature, that grows large quickly, and evolves rapidly. And that's the best way to describe this horrible freak caused by uncaring big business industries of factory waste. This film has truely a great environmental message to the world, "SAVE the EARTH". That's why I mention this movie, because not only is it a fantastic fantasy film, but it is also a warning about the cause and effect of pollution.
SIDE NOTE: The Godzilla creature, was the result of a new rare breed of dinosaur, exsisting on an island that was subjected to nuclear testing in the 1950's.

I dont think I ever watched that movie. But I do remember that there was some ad on tv and it had the slogan "size don't matter" (can't remember what the ad was for) and then when Godzilla came along, there was a new saying "Godzilla - size DOES matter!"

Above, is one of the original 1970's trailers. This trailer allows you the viewer, to see a newer version of Godzilla, and the way Godzilla is portrayed today. You'll also notice that the 1970's Godzilla was a friend to the Human race. Where as today, Godzilla is an enemy of the Humankind on Earth!

So Hedorah is the smog Monster that Godzilla need to get rid of?
That's alot of new info about Godi , for me! You really do learn something new everyday!
Save the Planet from pollution, that's a good messege (timeless, even). But now I am thinking, how are the big businesess suppose to keep on going? Sure you can tax them on the amount of polution they create, but its not going to work.
Why have they made Godzilla an enemy of the human kind in the later version of the movie?
