Tony Powers is not a common name in the music field, yet he has written hundreds of songs since the 1970's. He has a gift for writing songs, unfortunatley he sold just about every song to survive in New York. He doesn't regret it though, he is happy to still hear a great deal of his familiar tunes that he had composed play on the radio. He mostly sold songs to record companies who made millions off of his work, and he was only paid a few thousand or a few hundred dollars for his songs. He can't even mention his tunes that he wrote in the past, because he had signed a contract stating that fact.
Years later, he and his friends decided to cut albums under his own name, and he did rather well for himself. Recently he wrote a powerful song about the state that the world is in today (song above).
I included his first song (below) under his name, it was a hugh success in the 1980's, I'm still a fan of this strange and one of a kind sound that he has. You'll see a few actors in his video, like his friend TREAT WILLIAMS, and a very young JOHN GOODMAN.
I contacted him a couple of times, he's a real down to Earth guy, he's no phoney, like the multitudes performing today. He really cares about creating his music, and he is not just trying to make a buck. He told me he loves to write music, sing, eat and sleep, I had to chuckle at his honesty. I also mentioned his occasional bit acting in movies and tv, he enjoys that too, but his passion is for the art of music.

Hmm.... How Do Ya - no offence to the man, but I generally don t really like songs that accuse the govt. It's like Roy Harper in McGoohan Blues and Green Day in American Idiot: all they do is blame the govt for everything (I mean, what else csn they do, really?) at least they can offer something to correct whatever is wrong. Unless it's about a corrupted govt in which case the people have "more" reason to accuse the govt. (I am walking on the edge here, aren't I...? ) Don't Nobody Move - what is a Heist? And I didn't really get what he is trying to say. Not very pleasant words to read , nor video to watch. I mean, no disrespect to the man (again) it's just that the theme is quite unpleasant (for me anyway) You actually met and talked to the man! Coolness!

Tony had heard enough and seen enough of what governments do. I know I was shocked at the many horrifing things the USA & Isreal has done, I've spoken to alot of people from other countries and I've been a soldier myself and I've spoken to alot of people who've been in the armed services.
I'm not going to list all of the stomach-churning things that I know have happened, because I try not to think about such monsterous things. (hundreds of pages at the least)
Because my dear innocent Bunny, what we hear from the media, is one-sided, altered and the "TIP OF THE ICEBERG". If most people really know what's going on, they would become like rabid dogs, because the anger would overtake them.
I know Tony's own music he writes is dark and observational, he grew up in a rough neighborhood and has seen alot of the seedy side of life. But fortunately he focused his talents into song.
"HEIST" is slang for robbery, crime or hold-up. It was a popular term in old crime movies, bad guys would shout:
"DON'T ANYONE MOVE, THIS IS A HEIST !"
And I do understand that his personal music isn't for everyone, but the songs he wrote much earlier that he sold off, you'd probably like, most people do. (like Elton John & Bob Dylan)
I can say no more.

The Odyssey Tony was asked by a movie company to do a romantic tune, and here it is. I think he did a fine job.

I am very sorry if I struck an unnecessary chord....
The Odyssey is quite a tune! Reminds me of the 70s America

HONEY BUNNY: "I am very sorry if I struck an unnecessary chord...." STARBEAST: "No my dear, you didn't upset me, but I do get a little worked up when I think of injustice. That's why I like to "Escape Reality" and have fun here, and forget about the world problems."
HONEY BUNNY: "The Odyssey is quite a tune! Reminds me of the 70s America." STARBEAST: "I like both his light and dark stuff, and the Odyssey is a nice romantic tune."
