"Samantha!" Louis shouted again, now more angrily than before.
The girl was just too damn stubborn to care.
She made her way down a staircase at the back of the building, or what seemed to be the back atleast.
There were more buildings here than what she had seen from the road. Some small sheds and lots of narrow spaces between.
She didn't have time to look for a right way, so instead, she just ran in the direction she guessed would lead her to the road.
She had been lucky, as no one had seen her running about like a headless chicken, and now she even found Louis' car. She sprinted towards it.
Of course, there was no key.
Damn! she thought, throwing herself at the glove compartment, looking for that Browning handgun. She snatched it and looked around. That Ford made her shivver, the way it stood there, waiting for her.
What was she supposed to do now?
Stupid Louis had to take those blasted keys with him. She huffed, frowning as she sat still for a couple of seconds, trying to recollect her thoughts.
A shadow suddenly appeared next to the car, and upon looking in the window, she could see it was one of the bad guys. Panicking, she lept over to the other side of the car, stumbling out the door. The guy had a knife in his hand, and he came up around the hood, "You can't run away from me" he said calmly.
Samantha gaped at him, not being able to even scream.
Eventually her feet were willing to do some teamwork, and she ran towards the buildings again, chased by the guy with a knife.
Clinging to the gun, she knew she wouldn't have time to shoot him. She needed some distance first.
The guy was fast, but he seemed perplexed by the layout of the area, to which she had a small advantage.
She rounded a few corners and made it down a small alley between two sheds.
She could hear him call her a pregnant dog, and by the sound of it, he was losing her. Now she was running up some stairs, and before she knew it, she was up on a similar roof that she left Louis on. She followed the roof for a while until she rounded a corner, finding Louis hiding between a bunch of metal bars that were piled on top of each other.
The girl was about to call after him, but a guy crept out a nearby window. He was clearly after Louis, but he had not seen Samantha yet.
Instantly she aimed her gun and pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. Only a clicking sound.
The guy turned his attention to the blonde, who was standing like an idiot, pointing a useless gun at him. The guy sneered and knew that now he could take out Louis and just collect the unnarmed girl. Shifting his attention back to Louis, who was far too busy trying to take down some other men, Samantha started running in this guys direction, "Louis!" she called out, but her voice was drowned in the sound of gunshots.
The fact that Louis was so close by, made her sure that with a bit of teamwork, they could take him out, before he got the chance to put a bullet in Louis' head.
The guy had his gun in his hand, but just as he tried to get ready, Samantha had tons of adrenaline pumping in her blood as she smacked him right in the ear with her gun.
The guy shouted in pain and stumbled down almost on his knees. Louis whirled around, protected by metal bars on both sides. He saw Samantha with his handgun, that he already knew was empty, as he used to store the ammo for that one elsewhere. He leaned over the metal bars, looking at the guy, putting a bullet in the man's shoulder.
"Thanks" Louis said, looking up at the girl who was standing still. "You saved my life, I think." he added with a cheeky smile before he turned his attention back to the guys who were trying to take him out.
"Now, get down or they'll shoot you!" he barked.
Samantha was suddenly back on track again. She grabbed the gun from the guy who'd been shot, and decided to run towards a building, feeling it would be safer inside. Climbing through a window, the floors looked empty.
She couldn't think of a plan right now, other than getting someone's car keys, which ment hoping that one of the bad guys wearing the keys would die, or kill Louis and take the keys. And she knew one thing, she was not a cold-blooded murderer. Sure, it was a dog eat dog world out there, and she'd take out anyone who tried to harm her, but she just wasn't made for killing people, especially people that were semi-helpful at the moment.
If anything, she had to take him out last, because right now she needed him to take out these guys.
Damn him. She really needed to get away.
Four men stormed inside the building, seeing the girl on the metalbridge. They all aimed their guns at her, waiting for something. They were most likely waiting for her to start shooting or running.
Samantha stared at the men, reaching to grasp the metal railing in need for something to hold on to in fright. She had a feeling they were gonna start shooting the minute she started running, but she had to. She was at the middle of the bridge, meaning it didn't matter which way she ran.
She decided to carry on forward. Just as she started running, they all fired their guns at her, and suddenly the metal made a grinding sound, followed by some various loud metal sounds.
Samantha kept running, but suddenly half the bridge creaked and lowered a bit. It made her stop, staring at the metal around her feet, wondering if she was safe.
The men were watching from the ground floor.
She took another step and suddenly the metal caved in and snapped off a few feet infront of her.
Her feet lost ground and she started sliding with the same speed as the bridge collapsed. "Louis!" she shrieked, clawing at the metal trying to hold on to it before she slid off. She saw her new gun slide past her and drop to the ground, where it was quickly picked up.
Just as she reached the edge, there was something to grab, and so she was hanging from the now vertical-bridge. The men ran up underneath her, shooting at the metal around her hands, hoping she would let go.
"Idiots, stop that! You're insane!" she screamed, trying to kick around to give herself a boost upwards. It failed and only made her hands more tired. She felt her hands slide off the metal, and no matter how hard she grasped, it was no use.
Her hands finally let go and she fell to the ground, her feet first then her back slammed to the ground. The men were all watching and waiting, pointing their guns at her.
Samantha was flat on her back, staring up at them. Her gaze was blank and drowsy and there was no real sign of anger on her face. Just a mix of fear and pain.
"Now, was that really so hard?" one of them asked jokingly with a haunting voice.
Two of the men reached down to grab her. One of them scooped his arms under hers, while one got her legs. They ran as fast as they could with her, making their way out the building and towards the van.
She didn't bother putting up a fight, not only because she was bruised, but also because they were so many and there was really no way out of this, unless Louis came to save her.
"Louis!" she called out meekly, but her voice was too weak to carry. She decided to atleast try to twist out of their grip, but something inside her mind told her that she had to accept that she had lost this battle for now.
If only she had stuck with him and not run away.
As they got to the car, one of them forced a small cloth to her face. It didn't smell anything particular, except maybe a faint sweet smell.
She could hear them talking, and she wanted to start wriggling, but she couldn't find the energy, and before she knew it, they threw her in the back of the van.
All she could see now where some feet from guys sitting on some makeshift benches. "Is she out cold?" one of them asked.
"Nah, I think she's still with us, well almost anyway." another one replied.
The girl forced herself to look up at the guys one last time before she rested her head on the cold floor, staring at someone's shoes.
What a way to lose a battle, she thought.
