The main reason why I really enjoyed this movie with Kurt Russell is because I wrote a simular short story in the 1990's. This film was a great tribute to the explotation movies of the 1960's and 1970's, where "shock" value was what attracted people to the theater and drive-ins. Today it seems that film makers have once again returned to pump out shocking horror, sex, and adult subject matters to the ultimate extremes! And unfortunately the main characters in these newer violent and unmoralistic films are kids and NOT ADULTS, making these films a big turn-off to me. The sicking images of very young people causing trouble and getting involved with casuel sex and using ugly vulgar language to express themselves is an awful way to protray youth. Young minds absorb all of these images of how to act and mimic the ugly behavior of the young criminal types they see because they are shown that it's fun to be unmoralistic. What it boils down to is that hollywood wants to make money any way they can and not care how they do it by showing girls with tons of make-up and dressing like trampy women. And boys talking like adults about everything unethical and gross that you can possibly image in your worst nightmares. In alot of current movies that I've seen (and I could only tolerate them for 20 min.s and then change the channel) I've noticed kids and teenagers talking like adults about every kind of sexual subject on Earth, it was obvious to me that the writers of the the movie dialogue was some sick closet case who believes it's funnier when a young person speaks like a sex-crazed adult.

Ah Beastie.... you have got me putting on my debating hat on! Beware! I agree with you that films nowadays contain too much violence and vulgarity. But these movies are based on something, right? Film directors put their life and thoughts into the movies they make. And when people say "the media is poisoning our minds with sick stories just to get money" ... I have been thinking. The media is made out of people, humans. And logical economics would say that there is equilibrium when supply=demand. If the media actually gets money from making these kind of films, then there is demand for it and the media needs to meet this demand by supplying it. Now, I am just playing devils advocat. I agree with you that movies these days are quite not to my taste, that is why I turn to reading and old movies or fantasies or movies with less violence, coarse language, sex and nudity. Which is why this site is called Better Than Tv!!!!! Back to being Honey From, your post though, [going back to the topic], I didnt get your feelings for the movie. You like the original but not the remake? And you mentioned that you wrote a short story back in the 90s. Curious Bunny would like to read!

DEATH PROOF 2 Honey Bunny: "From your post, I didn't get your feelings about the movie."
Starbeast leans back on his car: "I liked it."
Honey Bunny: "You like the original, and not the remake?"
Starbeast: "There is only one movie. It's a tribute to those explotative crazy and wild rated "R" movies of the 1960's and 1970's. The director intentionally wanted to make the movie look like an old gritty seventies film, I think Tarantino did a great job."
Honey Bunny: "You mentioned you wrote a story back in the 90's that was simular to DEATH PROOF."
Starbeast slowly grew a smile: "Yep."
Honey Bunny: "Curious rabbit would like to read that." She grinned pleasently.
Starbeast raised his eyebrows and stood up straight: "That's not a bad idea, maybe after the Kolchak tale."
Honey Bunny restained her excitement: "Goody....say, what's with the skull on your car?"
Starbeast leans forward on his black car: "I want it to look like the one in the movie. Want to go for a ride?"
Honey Bunny: "Looks fast...is it safe?"
Starbeast: "Honey, I could drive this car head on into a brick wall going 120 miles per hour and walk away."
Honey Bunny: "Sounds safe enough.......but I know you wouldn't do that intentionally."
Starbeast smiled pleasently: "No.....not intentionally."

Starbeast: "Honey, I could drive this car head on into a brick wall going 120 miles per hour and walk away."Honey thought about these numbers trying to figure out if they mean "fast" or "slow" ... she decided to say "Sounds safe enough.......but I know you wouldn't do that intentionally." To which Beastie replied: "No.....not intentionally." What a cute scene!!!! I am too scared to drive, that's why I am postponing it as much as I can.

Alot of people are afraid to drive at first, but once you get some practice, it becomes fun and you'll want to drive as much as possibly.
Yes, 120 miles per hour is very fast, you are probably use to hearing kilometers per hour.
I saw this picture in photobucket and thought of us, so I made this scene simiular to the film DEATH PROOF.
If like this little scene, check out the one in the wall section under my name, it's a little different.

Beastie: Alot of people are afraid to drive at first I am not sure if I am more scared for my own life or for the life of the other drivers! Having said that, I am aiming to learn how to drive in the holidays (gulp!)
